Boy did I Fuc#-up my ankle today
« on: October 01, 2009, 06:20:09 PM »

So my nephew and I were wokring on the USS Intrepid ES, needed to replace the messed up inner and outer tie rod ends, so the damn car wants to fight me everystep of the way.
First I snap off 2 bolts(in a non-critical area) then we cna get one bolt started and tightened, buty, not the other side(driverside). After much cussing, and at this point I was laying on top of the massive 3.2L 24 valve power plant, I need to get out of the engine bay, so I slide off the front of the car

                                     and

I land on the outer side of my left foot, hearing all sorts of pops and cracks, nice size bulging near the ankle, time to call 911 and take a nice ambulance ride to Shadyside Hospital. After 3 hours of much relaxing, the Doc tells me lucky, nothing broken, just severely sprained, so I hope the nephew(who is in school to be an auto tech can finish the USS Intrepid ES tomorrow all I got to say is  and I peacefully, oh well, just another day in the life of me, no luck what so ever, and by the way next friday(Oct 9th ) is my last day of school, go figure. Time for bed the Vicadine is starting to work.

Now you have a reason to put up your feet.
Take it easy and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear it buddy, hope you feel better soon

BTW, there's access for the tie rods in the top of the engine compartment? I looked in those things and can't even see the ground!

Glad it's only temporary, if uncomfortable,  Tom... yesterday I
found out I need a new R knee, x-rays showed it's bone on bone, been
bothering me for years... I'm too young to start replacing parts, maybe
I should just put in a Moog ball joint.

Just ask the doc to install a zerk fitting so you can lube it every 3,000 miles
Tom
Speaking of knees a  buddy of mine is the same way, doc said he is too young to do it now.
he is in his early 40's, the doc told him to wait until he was in his 50's for replacement.
So much for modern medicine

The problem is they last only 10-15 yrs.   I'm way ahead of
him, the '50s are pretty much in the rear view mirror... time is
runnin' out for the OEM knees.
