firedome eats crow.... willingly!
« on: September 25, 2009, 04:28:57 PM »

OK, when it come to derby guys, I have to admit... I've been caustic,
saracstic, mean, and just plain nasty at times - and perhaps, to some
extent, justifiably...  I mean, none of us here likes to see a
decent saveable C-body sacrificed to the fleeting, transient jollies of
folks who get pleasure from seeing terminal contact involving our
favorite and increasingly rare automotive icons... BUT, and here comes
the mea culpa,  ONE of these whipping boys has gone way above and
beyond the call of duty, and, significantly for many of us here, could
even turn out to be an invaluable resource for all of us C body
aficianados in the great North-East NY/NJ  area...  it's
quite a long tale in the telling, and it's been a very long day and I'm
about to crash... so... I'll fill ya'll in tomorrow with "The Rest of
the Story"... complete with pics!

Yeah, its actually cheaper right now than I thought it would/should be,
a real deal if it goes for anywhere near $1500 imo... I had the same
car same color but a '73 this was a long time  ago!

Guess I got sweet tea taste on a tap water budget then. Darn good thing
I like granny seedans, the ones that are truly cheap... well, so
ok, I wouldn't mind a '70 Go-Mango Challenger 340 4 spd 'vert, but
that's so far out of reality that it doesn't even enter the realm of
possiblity, which make things easier, in a way...

Sorry, but, once you stop chasing your dreams, it only means your dead.  Remember: The joy is in the journey.  Not the destination.

As for me,  there's a '68 4 speed Hurst Hemi Dart with my name on it....

'Tis true, but dreams evolve, and it seems that the older I get some
just seem less urgent - maybe it's the declining testosterone. I think
I get as much kick from this ol' 4 dr as any car I've had... guess a
true car nut loves em all. I realize I've been very lucky in that I've
already had the opportunity to fulfill a lot of automotive dreams with
the likes of a 300-C , '58 NYer and '56 & '57 Super 88 J-2
conv's,  E-Type, TR-4, many MGs, etc, starting back in my early
20s, so kind of got some of it out of my system maybe, I dunno... might
feel differently if I hadn't.  But lemme tell y'all, if any car is
pure s_x on wheels, it's the Jag E for sure...better than any vette or
muscle car,  even if it's not a Mopar.  Still have that pic
up on the wall, the now faded dream of a once young man.  But like my
uncle likes to say - it's the process, not the product  - and I
love the workin' on 'em part, bringin em back to life... Yowza!
