Who remembers the 2 Hurst cars in FL on E-bay?
« on: September 12, 2009, 04:24:48 PM »

Turns out one of my Mopar buddies who lives about a mile down the road from me bought them.  Both need complete resto's but they are complete. Today he offered me one of them for what he has into it.  Always wanted a 300 Hurst so I'll probably buy it. Just not sure I want to get in to a major project right now though.

Yeah, I'm kinda bummed about that too. I'm going over tommorrow to take a good look at the floors, trunk and frame but actually the body is pretty close to rust free. Everything under the hood has  the brown rust color to it. The hood frame is rusty but that can bne changed fairly easily. Both the hood and trunk fiberglass need work but aren't real bad. I'll look it over real good tommorrow but the price is real reasonable in any condition.

FL cars seem to rust weirdly though, in places you wouldn't expect and
different from your typical NorthEastern salt rust... like seams around
hoods and doors, roof rust... weird.

Depends on the part of Florida.  Cars on the coast rust worse than any New England car I have ever seen.  Cars, here in The Heartland are as dry as any Arizona car.
And yah, when they do rust down here, it's a weird type of rusting.  It's not a "rust-through" type.  It's a "mildew" type.

That's true... my '70 MG came from Gainesville and I've had like 15 of
them;  this is the only one that had absolutely NO rust EVER...
and these cars rusted badly from day one, as I've learned from bitter
experience, and that's a big deal, since MGs have a true unibody with
no real frame, not even a subframe.
