Bakersfield Car Cruise!
« on: July 04, 2009, 09:20:45 AM »

Hey People, if you're in Kern County on Saturday, July 25, you are welcome to join our Car Cruise!  We will meet @ 3:00 p.m. at Chuys on Rosedale Highway.  We will leave at 4:00 and do a cruise.  We will end up at Steve Fogel's home for a Barbecue and Pot-luck!  He lives in a new development on some low hills.  His is the only house there at the time so there will be no problem with nagging neighbors about where to park.

This event is open to all makes and models.

If you want to join us, please IM your name to Steve.  He will need you name or you won't be able to get in past the security gate.  Seriously!

Bring some food to share and join us for the cruise, food, and fun on a hot July day in the Bake!

Yeah no neighbors !   Hope nobody calls the cops when they hear all those screeching tires and hopped up engines.  Hey, those aren't "low hills" Snotty, those are the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.  Hike up one of those and see just how "low" they are.

Steve, I used to live in Sierra County.  THOSE were the foothills!  They also had trees and received snow.

There's no comparison with these dry bumps we have out here.

I might have to plan for this.
Hey Scott, do you know of a 440 short block that might be available in your neck of the woods??

Moe, you would be more than welcome!  If you'd like to spend the night here you may as well.

I could check with some of my local buddies fpor that block.  There has to be one somewhere.

Thanks, Scotty! I think I'm going to take you up on that offer.  I might not need another block as I've  talked with a machine shop in town who could do the machining and assembly work, and there is a guy who will pull and reinstall the engine in the same building.

Now I just need to be blessed with the $$ to do it.

Very well Moe.  Let me know when to expect you.
By the way, have you gotten yourself another car?  When your motor is pulled, what will you use to drive around in?

Now, Stanley, men of you age are supposed to have lots of dough in 401k accounts!  Why are you weeping??

Scotty, I'll be driving Chaz, Lord willing.  BTW, I lost your cell # (along with my cell phone, 'natch) so could you PM me it and I can call you later this week?

I might have to chintz on the repair and just have the heads swapped with the Stealth units, change the cam, lifters, push rods, timing set, intake and carb at most.  I dunno. *sigh*

Stan, I've heard it helps sometimes to self-medicate some pain (purely as a temporary solution, of course!).

Snotty led us on a great cruise of Bakersfield with passersbys wowed by all the classic Mopars on parade.   And, even though the neighbors were 1/2 mile away, somebody still called the cops and the HOA on us for pulling hole shots !  The sheriff even sent out the rural street racing detail, but we had already finished and no citations were issued.  A good time was had by all.
