Keep your BIG cars, guys!!!
« on: May 19, 2009, 03:49:49 AM »

Did ya'll hear aout the new mileage standards about to be put into
law?  I don't want to start any political discussion, and it may
not ultimately be a bad idea for energy security or other reasons, BUT
it will no doubt require ever smaller vehicles in order to meet the
requirements...even trucks will have to get 30 mpg and cars around
39!!!  So those of us who love the Big Un's, cars and
pickups,  had best hang on to 'em, because they will become
increasingly rare on the road - that's assuming we can even still get
the gasoline. Myself, I intend to drive my '58 DeSoto, '80 Saint Reege
,and '70/71 Fury when I find her, until I die.... BIG Mopar, or NO car.

Yes, I heard this on the radio yesterday.  My first thought was the new, light cars that will be manufactured to make this possible.  Small, light cars equal two things: higher gas mileage and HIGHER DEATH RATES!

Can't wait!

They will probably tax us old car lovers to death for hanging on to them...or at least come up with some more laws/regulations to drain us dry. Can you tell how much I love NY state?

Over here the state has too support the "ART" makers (painters and skulpture makers)
for them to live, and we have buy our art, and get punished by taxes.

But then we can drive our old cars without smogtest, if they are older than 35 years (veteran cars) we get cheap road tax and insurance.
Lets see when the green politicians are going to do some changes to that.

Let the fools and the ignorant drive liliput-mobiles - all the more gas
left for my DREADNOUGHT class cars... you can't repeal the laws of
physics:   E(k) = 1/2 mv squared , expressed in unit Joules.
