you know how i fill a trunk... either way lincolns were designed to carry around 800 lbs of cargo, people, whatever before having a impact on the drive, or so im told.

i already owned an 83 towner... it had 325k on it... im aware of the pros and cons. the ICM's do go...lol

6 bodies easy...

so far its gettin much better mileage the the nyer. so im saving money there. i'll probably give it a go through and refresh so i have a baseline of whats new and not, so a tune up is down the road but for now it doesnt seem to need anything! hell it dont even leak....

now THIS  is a Town Car...

or at least the closest to the '78 I had...  460 and all!  I can still hear that Jim Croche 8-track playing from the factory Quadrosonic tape deck.

Stan, they made townies like that till 79 Ford was the last of the Big 3 to downsize. But that indeed would fit into you late 70's big plush American automobile theme. I would love one too.

That there blue one is the rare Collector Edtion, made  only the
last year, note NO opera windows, and it was especially plush inside
nad mase in a limited edition, some had 400s I think instead of
460s.... I was into these monsters for awhile, I had a '75 Town car in
1990 that had only 17k miles and looked literally brand new, it had one
tiny almost invisible stone chip on the L rear quarter, that was it...
the problem with them is that they are TRULY boats, really
ponderous  to drive around corners, very soft ride, I just
couldn't take the handling after owning big Mopars that actually
handled decently, so I got rid of it...But if you just want to slowly
float in ultra plush and hushed quiet style, this is THE car.  I
kinda like the outrageous Mk IV too, in it's totally over the top
nouveau gauche way, it is the '59 Cadillac of the 70s.

Those last big towners are on my to own eventually list. The collector editions were really overbuilt to a point at there 20k price in '79 ford lost money on them... the grills were gold plated, they came with custom umbrellas, the interior carpet was twice the pile of the normal towncars, and the trunk carpet was that of a normal towncar among all the other standard features. There is a 73 or 74 Mark IV for sale localy here but I can't go for another car...

No air ride Ar! Which is such a plus. so no blown air shocks to worry about.

Foamy I paid 1g for it... worth every penny.
