Why don't we all pool up and buy Buick and Corvette and make them "Mobbymobiles".  How outragious would that be?

Tough, fuel pedal limiters, and fast.  We make our Millions, sell it to Ma Mopar and buy a nice warm Island.  Only thing is Bob would have to live on the other side of the island.  I don't want to see all his rust in my back yard.

That rear quarter must be the longest single stamping in history.
The best body man in the world would be driven insane repairing that...

Outrageous? Yes if you were one of the big three when this car came about. The story of Tucker is even more outrageous than the car itself.
Piles of safety features, fuel injection rear mounted engine, and qualified as a production model.
An engineering feat ahead of its time but a failed business venture.

If flops would quailfy as outrageous, I would have to toss in the latest T-Bird coupe, the '67 4-door T-Bird (Only 27,000 sold - Ford expected 250,000!), the Edsel, the afore-mentioned Aztek (), and the now-beloved but then unsold '69 Daytona and '70 Superbird!

Sorry boys, buy they flopped big time!

Yah.  What I was thinking too.

Even Chrysler was required to produce 500 Hemi Darts.

Remember, the Tucker was intended to be a mass production car.  But he was shut down.  I never read the book, but the movie implies what really happened.
