Caveat Emptor,Mobby
Check the underhood wiring harness, and the plug at the alternator.Very common for them to burn up and the harness is known to have green cancer throughout.
I know.
I owned an 88 Town car 2003-2005
Wiring cost me two alternators, two batteries, and nothing worse than driving in the darkness of night when the headlights take a crap. Even after installing a new headlight switch, they would still black out.Cause?? Damn wiring.Heater had a mind of its own, too. Then the radio would act up.Wiring again.
Had delay wipers--I am still waiting for them to come on..
Got rid of it after it flunked the emissions test.
Oh,and the overdrive sucked in that thing too.
My Dippy and my old '68 VIP were far better cars in the snow to boot.
The Town Cars had 3.55 rear gears and super low 1ST gear which left you sitting spinning and could not drive you out of a wet paper bag.
The guy who bought it afterwards blew the rear end out of it.
With its three speed tranny,I get better MPG out of my Dippy than I ever did get out of the Stinkin' Lincoln 5.0L with OD.Go figure.
Just my 2 cents,Jon.
One less car H has to fix.He does not handle Phords.

There's a reason those things are 450 bucks...... Lea's right on this on. We stripped two of these that had less miles on it and the parts my friend saved (nose, doors and interior parts) went to the junkyard after sitting on them for 6 years waiting for someone to buy them....

Unless it had 15K on it like Steve's Polara, they are the definition of  "worthless"

"Posting deleted by author." Is all I got on the Lincoln Mob.
You know me, its Mopar or No Car for me so I'd go with the K car!!! Its a Lebaron so it is a little nicer and has more sound deadening in it than say a Reliant, plus nicer seats and a few more toys.
It may not be the prettiest car on the road but it will get ya from A to B. (If you treat it half way decent)  I know it ain't Nadine but it probably has a hello a heater and beats walkin!!! And being "Old man owned" chances are there is a glove box full of receipts prolly from a dealer or a very reputable garage. Well worth the $550.00 IMHO I wish I could find one like that for my son.
Just my .02

I'm not too sure I understand his motovation Lea.

He keeps looking at these gas guzzlers.  Today he asked me about a Ram Charger.  Has a Knock. . .   I remember mine only got 10 MPG, on a good day.

The seat backs are bad on those too John.

Maybe he does have a few bodies he needs to move around afterall .

you never know...

gas is not my biggest concern... i've been driving V8s since the beginnig... i want something i can hold my head up in while driving...
not something that looks like it needs a wind up key.
