Edelbrock or Holley
« on: December 15, 2008, 03:11:05 PM »

I need to replace my carb, and have narrowed down my choices to either an Edelbrock Performer #1407 750cfm or a Holley Street Avenger 770 cfm.  Which would you put on a 383HP with a mild cam (comp XE268H), Eddy performer manifold, ported 346 heads with huge valves, stock HP manifolds and 2 1/2" TTI exhaust.  Absolute max horsepower is not required, this car is driver more as a Saturday cruiser that loves to surprise Mustang GT's at stoplights.

Holley isn't my first choice. . .Ask Mobby what choice words I have used on a few Holleys.  Edelbrock gives allot less trouble

Eddy.
My Carter carb is actually identical to what Edelbrock makes.(same tooling)
I had a Holley on my car and it got tired real quick--plus I got tired messing with it.
I have an Eddy waiting to go on the Boab..someday..

I'm with Ron and pretty much everyone else on this.

Eddy... I had 2 holleys crap out in 3 years... Im pretty deep in the pedal alot and so far this eddy is dealing with it nicely...

But yea if you can do the TQ who doesn't like sewer pipe sized secondaries.... try to get one made 74 and down though... the later ones have more vacuum lines than david orreck...

No your not alone Stan, I have an Edelbrock and am less than thrilled with it.
None of my Michigan Mopar buddies like em either, they are all telling me to switch to a Holley or a Demon (although Demons are pricey)
