I find it can be like that sometimes when everyone involved believes they are the official "expert".

pick a mentor carefully. mine found me and wishes he hadn't.

Another bad thing is going on right now.  With the US$ in the tank, South Americans and Europeans are buying up a lot of good iron.  Maybe I should repost The Nyb on the Moscow Craig's List...

You think it's bad with C  cars leaving, its an epidemic with
FLs... huge numbers are in Europe and Australia - the biggest non-US
chapter of WPC is Sweden.  My '58 almost got snaked by a Swedish
guy, after I had already made the deal with the owner in NJ, the Swede
called him offering more $$$ so many times that the NJ guy finally had
to tell him to get stuffed... lucky for me he had some integrity.

The foreigners are using crazedlist and jaxed to ferret out cars from
the hinterlands.  Only the local paper or PennySaver is safe from
them anymore, and not even all of them!!!

Well, Perhaps that's who's running up the price tag on this 60 Phoenix. Some ferigners?....or maybe someone helping out the............I hate to think that, but it looks awful shady. My eyes popped out this morning because the bidding went from $11,100 to $15,100 overnight! The details of the bidding show that there are two separate guys bidding against themselves just running up the price. That makes me very leary and I'm most ikely to stay away now. Bummer once again. E-bay...can't stay away - can't bear the evil

I'm willing to bet 75% of the high $ cars on eBay are shilled...
Yah!  That high.

Look at the high bidder.  Only previous history was a bid on scrapbook paper.
Look at the next highest bidder.  ZERO feedback.
They're his buddies.

The last legit bid was at $11,000.

What a cryin shame.......for me anyways. Overnight, one guy ran it from 11,500 to 12,500 in 3 consecutive bids and another ran it from 12,700 to 14,999 in 5 consecutive bids. The good side of me wants to give them the benefit of the doubt and say "well they really want the car and were trying to find the other guys top bid" but the bad side of me says "it's shillers...running up the price"  You think 75% shillers on these high end cars huh? Ouch... Perhaps I'm too naive about e-bay. Ok, Perhaps it's time to go to E-bay anonymous now.

Thanks Stan....I use to search Deals on Wheels....not sure why I stopped. That yellow Pioneer is nice...still there though because of the 6cyl. You are so right. I must get away from E-bay. I called off the hauler/exbodyman friend of mine. He's not going to look at it tonight.......Turns out the poor guy is caught in a snow storm in Ohio, so he couldn't have made it anyways. What a difference a day makes...yesterday it looked like all the pieces were fitting together...today they all fell apart. FL Nazi strikes again...."No Fins for you"

May not be shills ...don't forget, the economy in Sweden, Denmark,
Finland, Norway, Germany etc is much stronger than ours, Nokia,
Novartis, Glaxo, Bosch, Siemens etc etc are there... but more
importantly, the exchange rate on Euros vs Dollars gives them the
equivalent of a 50% discount on everything -  so their $15k bid in
real dollar equivalency to them is only 7500! And shipping is a
bargain.  I've seen way too many 3500 to 35,000 FLs go over the
pond, not much we can do with a weak dollar...

STAN! I'm surprised at you!
Tryin to sell the guy that white monster.....if it hasn't been a 4 door welded up to be a 2 door, then it sure looks like a bondo buggy to me, with bad chrome painted over and modern seats thrown into it. That would be a horrible car to put back to original......for shame!

Stan is now not allowed to look at ebay cars for 1 month as pennance.....
