I know about those...they are great.  Biggest problem is the price!  Cool part is they are DOT legal and are good up to 45MPH!  They do great in snow\\mud\\ice etc...but not in rocks!  That rover would DEFINITELY FLOP on the rocks being that it has such a high COG.  Thing is...my Jeep wouldnt with those - I have enough room as I am now to fit those w/o adding any more lift.

Besides the wheelwells on those are so small that the tread assy couldnt rotate as it needs to.  That would be bad.

The Forestry Commission was having some difficulty with its use of conventional Land Rovers, which were prone to getting stuck on rutted forest tracks and were hampered by fallen trees in cross-country use."

From link...

Hmmm so the stock rover couldn't even go thru the forest or fallen trees and could not go over 15mph w/o having steering issues?  Interesting.  CJs can go at hwy speeds and go thru the woods\\over trees.

A guy - lawyer - in Downieville had the local mechanic install these on his Jeep.  The man said to the lawyer, "Buy a Snow-Cat instead.  You can afford it, and it won't roll over!  Your Jeep's center of gravity is too high."  The lawyer did not listen and insisted the man install these things.  I was there the day this happened.

I was also there the day the Jeep was towed into town a total loss.  The lawyer rolled it down the hill in front of his home just as the mechanic had said.

I agree with the mechanic: If you have the need for a Snow-Cat, buy a Snow-Cat.
