Steve is gonna love this... but it might entertain some of you...

Not wanting to get a ticket for no brake lights, i jumped the normal wiring system with a wire from the working brake switch on the pedal all the way into the trunk connector, so i've got brake lights now as a temporary measure until whatever is screwy in my column  gets sorted...

Its funny because when you push the pedal the front parking lights, and the dash lights glow.... if the doors open you get the buzzer too... along of course with the brake lights...

no worries nothing was cut or spliced up.... i used connectors...

Also agree with the brake switch on the floor but on my Lumina it was my Turn Signal switch in the column.  Brake lights went thru the switch - my 3rd brake light would work fine but not my others.  My signals would work fine but no brakes.  Got so frustrated that I almost completely re-wired my brake light circuit to work via the brake pedal switch...but just replaced the turn signal switch - a month later was rearended, anyway!  Go figure!
