This is a neat site about Ingersol Rand diesel motors made for trains....they had a huge 6 cylinder one on a lowboy trailer at our engine show that was run every couple of hours.

Engines like that only run at 600 to 800 RPM.  Idle at 100

Now I know my memory is bad!  I thought those things were MUCH larger, at least they were when I last ran one

of course, this will give tremendous numbers. However, the number of tons moved per BTU of fuel also is much higher than on any road vehicle Difficult to compare this cool stuff to our cool stuff
