Old Car Sightintgs
« on: August 13, 2008, 12:37:35 AM »

I suspect it's just a coincidence, but other than organized events, I've been seeing more old cars on the road on Monday mornings than any other time.

Monday a couple of weeks ago, I was headed out of town in the Chrysler, and it was already warm enough that I had the top down at 7:30 AM.  After following a yellow '66 Corvette for about 5 minutes, I get off at my exit, and have to wait at the top of the ramp for a '68 Camaro.

This Monday, I'm driving across East Lansing in the Dart when I look in the mirror and realise I'm being followed by a guy in a full size '71 Ford Station Wagon,  and then notice the '64 Impala over in a MSU parking lot.

Since the price of gas has dropped a few pennies I've been seeing a few oldies running around more often.  Most noteworthy is a local guy who has a '67 Catalina 2dr HT.  Nuttin special, paint's a little faded, but solid as a rock with decent interior.  I've seen that car as far away as Altoona and Johnstown, so it gets around.

It's owner must recognize me and my rusty Junk-Bucket, as I always get a friendly (five-finger) wave!

Prius...  BAH!

Now that you mentioned it, the drivers of them (and SMART cars) look at me kinda' funny when I'm driving the Coupe DeVille.  They're fun to pass at full throttle on the four lane too!

It's like a PT-boat vs. a canoe...
