I had one of those 850 honker TQs on my 74 New Yorker Brougham...

it was an awesome sound....  but it was warped and so i achieved about 3 mpg...

Flipping the air cleaner lid was supposed to give you better mileage too!!!
15 HP AND higher fuel economy,why didn't Detroit do that in the first place!!!!!!!!

Main cause of cracked TQ fuel bowls is the float pin slides halfway out when re-assembling the carb and when the top is tightened down, it cracks there.

Or there are the alignment tabs on the bottom side of the body, to line up with the base plate, if they don't seat properly it will punch those pins up through the floor of the plastic body ad you will have fuel leaking through the carb base into the intake....Been there had that happen...

The most common issues happening with TQ-carbs are when the O-rings below the primary-jets fail, or the two fuel-transfer 'wells' under the main body start to leak.
You will have to carefully break them loose and re-attach them with JB-weld again.
