Look What Wandered Into My Shop

One of my all time dream cars

A supercharged 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk! Needs some new seat padding before it leaves for Florida. Hope my Silver Hawk looks like this someday

Even though the Studes look small, the Imperial looks lower next to it.
Steve's freshly repaired Saratoga is in the back there.

4 speed Muncie was only available in 1961...other than that it was the same 3 speed column shift as in yer grandma's bulletnose Stooood

Probably the best looking Stude ever!  I'm partial to the '53 Starlight Coupe though too

OK...  ok!  Even though they rode horrible and were awful cramped, they were easy on the eyes!  They should be!  The guy who styled it also designed the Coca-Cola bottle and this...

I owned a '64 Stude Avanti.
Not farting was it's ONLY good feature....

A locally owned perfect (?) Avanti was recently offered to me at a Fire Sale price.
Took me 1 nanosecond to pass.

Wow,  There was one just like that at the Jackson Cruise Night yesterday.  My friend Mike and I were discussing the "bump" on the hood.  Did they have to add that to clear the supercharger?

Nope.  Strictly cosmetic.
But, did you notice how that "bump" on the hood exrends onto the dash?   Very cool.

The Golden Hawk's bump does cover a hole in the hood for supercharger clearance....If I remember correctly  when I worked on Raymond Lowey's personal Avanti, the supercharger was on the side of the bump and that's a pretty low hoodline.....

Was that your red Avanti in that pic Stan?  A friend of mine bought a red '64 in Florida back in the early '90s.  This guy also owned a supercharged '63 with a four speed.
