The Engine:
Here are some shots of the 1972 steel crank 340 that came with the car. Because I wasn't thinking ahead, I don't have any shots of the motor as it came in the car. It wasn't ugly, it just wasn't very pretty.

This is the freshened-up short block. Changes include:
- Cleaned factory 0.030"-overbored 8.5:1 cast pistons;
- All bolt holes tapped and cleaned;
- Brass core plugs installed;
- Resized rods using ARP rod bolts;
- Polished crank with chamfered oil holes;
- Magnum-style roller pilot bearing;
- New Clevite rod and full-groove main bearings, 0.010" undersize;
- Melling high volume oil pump installed with new pickup;
- Crane cam & lifters (HMV272, pn 693941, 0.454"I, 0.480"E / 272*I, 280*E);
- Double-roller timing chain;
- 273 adjustible steel rocker arms;
- MP moly coated fuel pump eccentric;
- A healthy dose of MOPAR Race Hemi Orange to replace the Ford Blue that came on it!
The heads were also cleaned up:

- Castings are # 3769974 from a 1976 360 without smog ports;
- All ports are gasket-matched and blended 0.5-0.75" in;
- All port bowls were opened up under the valve heads, and intakes were ground oversize;
- New 2.02" / 1.60" valves, springs, locks, and retainers, and seals were installed;
- 3-angle valve job was done.
